Client: Base Structures (2014)

Stainless steel tensile cable net for lighting

As part of the London Olympic Park legacy transformation, Tony Hogg Design provided our client with engineering and design services to deliver a stainless steel lighting cable net for an existing pedestrian underpass on the site.  Having worked with Base Structures on a temporary lighting cable net nearby for the 2012 Olympics, we were able to utilise and re-use stainless steel cable clamp components, where possible, to reduce costs and waste.  THD had to collaborate with Network Rail and Charterbuild Ltd to ensure the old existing brickwork could withstand the loads and an acceptable anchoring system was tested and adopted.  THD were also responsible for the engineering and design of the dwarf wall and its interestingly curved webnet infill as part of the underpass transformation to aid pedestrian flow, aesthetic, and help minimise anti-social behaviour.
